Dr. Metnes is a native Buckeye, born and raised in Cleveland. He earned his DDS degree from Ohio State University in 1981. For a short time after graduation, he lived and practiced in New Haven, Connecticut, where he met and married his wife, Marianne. Since moving back to Columbus in 1989, he has focused his career on private practice general dentistry (now with over 35 years’ experience).
Originally, Dr. Metnes was attracted to dentistry by the high degree of precision and artistic hand skills required to practice it. He feels “blessed to have been given these skills and to employ them for a positive impact on the health and well-being of [his] patients. [He] truly [enjoys] what [he does]."
Professionally, Dr. Metnes is a member of the ADA, ODA, Spectrum Dental Society and American Academy of Oral Systemic Health.
He and Marianne have been married for almost 30 years and have one son, Anthony, who is currently a junior in high school. Other than his faith and quality family time, Dr. Metnes enjoys building model aircraft, both plastic and radio control, gardening, and playing golf with his son.
Dr. Avery was born and raised in Granville, OH. He grew up watching his father serve the community as a local family physician making house calls and delivering babies. After graduating from Miami University and the Ohio State University College of Dentistry, he returned to Ohio to raise his family in the same community and has been practicing dentistry in Granville ever since for 40 years.
Dr. Avery is a member of the W.D. Miller Dental Society, the Ohio Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and the Francis Vedder Crown and Bridge Society.
When Dr. Avery isn’t caring for his patients, he enjoys traveling, camping, and spending his summers boating in northern Michigan with his wife, Vickie, to whom he has been married to for 45 years. Together, they cherish time spent with their children and grandchildren who live in Sacramento and Chicago.
